How to Replace a Gas Lift

You may need two people to carry out this repair.
In order to fit your new gas lift you will need to do the following:

• Put the chair upside down on the desk so the castors are in the air.
• Using a mallet or hammer covered with a cloth, hit the gas lift where it protrudes through the five star base (avoiding the clip in the middle of the gas lift and only striking the edges of the cylinder), this loosens the five star base and it can now be removed.
• Hit around the metal plate on the underside of the seat where the gas lift fits into the chassis, this frees the gas lift from the chassis.
• Put the new gas lift into the circular opening in the chassis.
• Now you can put the base back on, turn the chair over press down hard and the chair is now
• ready for use.

Tighten wrench around top of gas lift, whilst holding the Seat/Mech twist wrench,
this should loosen the gas lift from the mechanism.

Lift up gas lift cover, tighten wrench around the bottom of the gas lift. Whilst holding the
five star base, twist the wrench, this should loosen the gas from the base.
